(This entry is part of the i.ph Blogger Program)
I've been exploring my i.ph blog account and the first thing I want to do was to change how it looks. i.ph runs on Calliope, a locally developed blogging software by domains.ph. Calliope currently offers templates (very few actually -- 5) and only their templates can be used to customized the layout. No customized HTML here.

The customization opened on a new window. I tried to change the layout of my Header text. I wanted to place my Header text on the bottom of the header and aligned to the right. It took me several refreshes and tries but it seems that I cannot vertically align my header text on the middle and bottom of the area. I've also changed the header background image. There's also a few BG to choose from. You cannot upload your own images :(
Ok, enough with that header. Next stop was to customize the objects on my sidebar. It was really frustrating to wait for the page to load everytime I disable or enable an object on my sidebar. Sidebar objects cannot be sorted by the user. So if you want to have the tagboard all the way up, no can do. You'll have to settle several layers below. After finishing the layout for my main page, I decided to check the "APPLY TO ALL" box to apply the changes to the other page of my blog.
So much for changing the looks. I'll give a 3 out of 5 score for i.ph layout customization. There's a lot more to be explored with this service and layout is just a minor feature.
I've named my blog, Jepoy's ITlog (I.T. = InfoTech). ano iniisip nyo?! Ang dudumi ng utak nyo!! tsk! :P I'll be posting tech news that capture's my attention and some personal reviews on that blog. I'll try to post a sample article on my i.ph blog later.
EDIT Sir Angelo have told me that I could actually use images I'm about to upload on the i.Gallery. But I'm not gonna change my score :D A reminder or notice or even a FAQ should have been placed to guide newbies, like me, when customizing the layout of the blog. :)
I already have posted a sample article taken from CNN from my ITlog. I'll be experimenting more on the features of the post feature especially the POST BY EMAIL feature later.
I think that's about it, BEAM ME UP SCOTTY.

Hi Jepoy!
Actually, you can upload any image into your multimedia gallery and then use these as a header, watermark (if applicable), or background and sidebar image.
No custom HTML on the layout itself, but you can activate the custom objects on the sidebar (custom 1, 2, and 3). These support HTML and JAVAscript.
As for the refreshing and sidebar sorting, we're working on the new design editor--will definitely be faster.
Cheers.
Angelo

Greetings, Jepoy. This is Ginny of the USS Kalayaan. I have an i.ph account and I'va managed to change all the pics to one of my own (header, background, watermark) to those I've placed in my gallery. You can check it out at http://ginny.i.ph though yes, there are only 5 template formats to choose from at this time.
JAngelo has always been very helpful everytime I had questions about i.ph
@sir angelo - ive edited my entry. I was looking for that "UPLOAD OWN BACKGROUND" button for several minutes last night. Not much help was given by the FAQs (which are also outdated). :D
@ginny - I was a member of Via Astris egroups before... but my old yahoo email got banned. Si kuya Emil ang naginvite sa akin before. Napagsabihan pa nga ako ng mga members about not telling spoilers noon sa Nemesis. Hehehe. Actually, kakagaling ko lang sa panonood ng 5 episodes ng Star Trek Voy kanina nonstop. :D
@ginny - email got hacked pala... iba pala ung naban sa Yahoo dati. Hehehe.
