It seems that 3G is finally here. Broadband Philippines has launched its AIRNET PERSONAL WIRELESS BROADBAND in Metro Manila offering speeds upto 1.4Mbps. They're using CDMA technology to deploy the connection to its subscribers

They are currently offering two ways experience their service. One is a telephone like device, ZTE Model WP-960BD Fixed Wireless Terminal, that would connect to your computer via USB. You can also use the device to make local and international voice calls and even IP calls! It is also capable of sending and receiving SMS. The monthly service fee for this is P550. The unit costs P8,700 or you could pay it in 12 months.

They also offer purely data services with the Novatel Wireless V620 PCMCIA card. They claim the you could achieve 1.4Mbps speeds with their service. That's almost as fast as my cable internet connection! Not bad for a wireless connection. Service fee is P950 monthly plus the unit costs P16,000. Available also for 12months or outright purchase.
I might consider this to be used by Lalaine for her mobile office. I just hope their signal is good in Quezon City.
