Gulong ng Palad's theme was "inspired" by a French porn film, the original Pinoy Big Brother theme was a partial copy of Chandeliers but Orange and Lemons kept on denying it. Now, with the help of Andrew's super-sonic ear, it's Toni Gonzaga's We Belong. Andrew's obssession to Utada Hikaru lead to this discovery. Toni Gonzaga's We Belong has an uncanny resemblance to Utada Hikaru's First Love. I occassionally listen to Utada, but I dont memorize or remember her songs. But the first time I heard Toni Gonzaga's version, a spiderman-like tingling sensation struck my senses. I knew that I've heard that tune before but I'm not sure exactly what or where, until Andrew posted this entry on his blog.
What's with Utada, besides her obsession with Nintendogs, and they kept on copying her music? :P
We Belong's musical arranger should have an explanation ready to those angry Utada Hikaru fans. Right Andrew?

actually, you don't really need "supersonic senses" to notice the resemblance... sobrang halata! i even thought it was toni's version of "first love" at first..
but then, as vemsan said, likas na nga sa atin ang manggaya. i don't mind. :) one way or another, lahat naman talaga nanggagaya eh. it's not just us.
well, toni is a self proclaimed utada hikaru fan...
but...
all the 2 songs have is resemblance (lang)...
id like to say that we belong is entirely an original song not a ripoff...well, inevitable nman ang musical influence dba...especially sa pop...unless ur moby or bjork...
and dun sa argument nyo na "yeah ive heard this song before" thats all psychological--influenced lng ng blog entry na to (obvious sa mga comments ni edge--"now that uve mentioned it, oo nga!") i had a diffrent experience with the song...nung una ko sha narinig it didn't remind me of first love (which is my hs favorite so impossible na hearing the song wont ring any bells)... all i tot was the songs nice, i ddnt even know it was toni's...
first love is more somber...we belong is a lil sweeter... at diffrent ang vocal range nila dalawa...si utada matinis ang boses, si toni alto...
id lie to clarify that im not a toni gonzaga fan or the composer either...id just like to defend the talent behind a very beautiful song...lets give them the credits...ok? yan ang mali sa pop--akala lahat manufactured...no talent...
I still haven't gotten over the fact that this--this song--has exactly the same tune as Hikki's First Love. It's a big insult to Hikaru Utada, as she's spent so much time creating the tune and lyrics of this song and all the Filipinos do is copy it.
First came Jessa Zaragosa, then came Dice and K9. Now comes Toni Gonzaga.
Honestly, I'm not offending those who defend this song, but their arguments are full of nonsense. It would've been better if the composer/writer of this song gave proper credit. They're actually lucky Hikki's company hasn't heard of this yet, because this can lead to some serious matters. (Korea's Baby V.O.X was sued for copying an American song without giving proper credit; the group is disbanded now. Remember Yoon Eun-hye?)
ABS-CBN disappoints me.

now that you've mentioned it.. oo nga! may resemblance. pansin ko lang, puro mga kapamilya ang mga nanggagaya. :P
likas naman sa ating mga pinoy ang mang gaya... di ba di ba?
i'm familiar with some of utada hikaru's song - first love, automatic and easy breezy. peborit ko first love na katunog ng chorus ng "we belong". =p
wak mo kalimutan ung "Itsubo" ng Dice & K9 hahaha
true true. the chorus does sound like the first love chorus...*sigh* shmae on 'em!

Honestly, I was waiting for UH fans to draw out their katanas and slice ABS-CBN in half.
