So you got yourself a spanking new 3G mobile phone and luckily, you're on the Smart Telecoms network. Now let's maximize them:
Goodbye SMS, Hello MMS! - When Smart introduced their 3G services, rates for their data services plunged down. You can now send pictures for the same price as an SMS! ONE PESO. To activate MMS, text SET to 211. Ex: SET N6600
Smart Voice Text - If you're a lazy ass, instead of typing an SMS, you can now send a voice message to any SMART subscribers. Smart calls this service as Smart VoiceText. Just Dial *899 + recipient's 11-digit cel number and record your message. Upto 30 seconds can be recorded. P2.50 per message sent and P1.00 for each retrieval
Flat Rate - If you know you'll be exceeding a 1 minute call to a Smart subscriber but not necessarily exceding 3 mins, use Smart's Flat Call Rate. P10 will be deducted from your account for every 3 min call. But if your call reaches 5mins, P15 will be deducted. Just dial *883 plus the number of the party you're calling.
Mobile Internet Cafe - Whether you're on a 3G or GPRS connection, you can now browse the internet anytime and anywhere as long as there's a Smart signal. Internet browsing is now priced at P10 per 30 mins or P20 per 1 hour. The same price as renting on a PC shop. I've tested the Smart 3G connection using a Nokia 6630 phone as a modem to my laptop. My speed was clocked at 454Kbps! Faster than your ordinary wired DSL connection.
Extra Long Text Message - Don't you know that for P1, you could send a very long text message to anyone on the Smart network using an MMS capable phone? Create a Multimedia Message and instead of inserting a picture, type your message! Text messaging via MMS :P Just be sure that the reciepient uses an MMS capable phone.
Ironic. Giving Smart tips when I'm using a Globe Telecom account :P
