The closest thing to getting into Star Fleet Academy and commanding your very own starship, well, at least in an online world. Perpetual Entertainment is set to unveil anytime this year their bold plan to unleash a Star Trek-themed MMORPG. FINALLY!
Stardate 77021.1: A New Era
For over 40 years, the world of Star Trek has entertained, challenged, and inspired the imaginations of young and old alike. Now, behind the well-secured doors of an unassuming San Francisco office building, Perpetual Entertainment has assembled a crew of the entertainment industry's finest to create the most ambitious realization of the Star Trek universe to date: Star Trek Online.
Helmed by game industry veterans from Electronic Arts, Blizzard, LucasArts, Activision, and Rockstar, as well as legendary creative talents from the Trek television shows and motion pictures, Star Trek Online will catapult players into a massively multiplayer experience unlike all others. Familiar friends, terrifying new enemies, exotic locales and dangerous missions will come to life as players rise through the ranks of Starfleet and come together to protect the ideals - and the very existence - of the Federation.
Prepare to explore strange new worlds, seek out new life forms, defend civilizations, and boldly go where no one - and no game - has gone before.
Enlist and Engage. As of today, no BETA plans have been made so playing the BETA is still out of the question. Bridge Commander was good, Star Trek: Encounters sucked, so I just hope that this Star Trek MMORPG will turn out good.
I heard that Star Trek Legacy for the XBOX 360 got high scores from Gamespot, too bad I don't have an oversized DVD player, I mean, an XBOX 360. :~)
Set your phasers to stun cadets! Enlist here.
