Captain's Log Stardate -315996.76

I guess there's no more reason to keep the identity of this guy a secret. He's the first one to reveal my identity to his friends anyway. The person I'm talking about is Pierre Tito Galla or popularly known online as The Jester-In-Exile.

I don't need to tell everyone again what he's been doing to GameOPS and my friends and even other bloggers not related to GameOPS. You can read them all by clicking these links:

  1. GameOPS' Official Statement on the Accusations of Pierre Tito Galla (AKA Jester-in-Exile)
  2. Clearing My Name and GameOPS of the False Accusations of Pierre Tito Galla (AKA The Jester-In-Exile) by Rocky Opiña
  3. GameOPS Official Statement Regarding Jester-In-Exile's Accusations by Mark Bravo
  4. Mr. Pierre Tito Galla the new Christy Fermin? by Andrew Delos Santos
  5. Jester’s entry is full of lies by Reyna Elena
  6. Acceptance Speech by bluepanjeet
  7. Thesaurus Without Logic
  8. Jester-in-Exile Should be Exiled by Karlo Datoc
I swallowed my pride and tried to reach out to the guy. I asked him nicely about correcting his post regarding GameOPS, Rocky and Andrew. But what did I get? Insults. Yeah, insults.

Even before what happened on my birthday, I didn't mind his twisted post. Karlo already did a great job defending GameOPS. But our readers still think we're something we're not. I needed to do something before it causes a permanent damage on GameOPS. If Jester's post was only about Rocky or Andrew or Me, I don't care but I won't allow it if the name and credibility of GameOPS is being put on the line.

This would have been over if,
me: hey, correct your post. it's misleading.

jester: ok, i'll update my post with, "UPDATE: issue has been resolved and everything is ok..."

But no, instead of addressing my simple request, I got insulted and even exposed our supposedly private conversation with his friends. The funny thing was, he exposed my identity because of this post. A post where I didn't give a f*cking clue who I'm talking about.

I wasn't asking for a retraction. I was only asking that he edit his post and tell the facts. Not some twisted version of his.
Hi Jester,

I know this issue is long dead but I think you should consider editing your original post about GameOPS (specifically towards Rocky and Andrew/Siopao Master). I received an email the other day from a long time reader of GameOPS accusing us of being unfair because of maligning the good name of the PBA... You know what? He read everything from your blog. We all know that what you have written is kinda twisted.

I am looking forward to your editted entry and a note of your mistake at the bottom of your original post. Thanks.

Mark and Rocky said it already. GameOPS is our baby. It survived almost everything, even surviving the gaming website crash that killed one of our websites, DOGZ (Destiny's Online GameZone). And I won't let GameOPS be 'killed' by the likes of Pierre Tito Galla a.k.a The Jester In Exile.

I used to respect Jester. Maybe because he writes... well... verbose. But everything changed after this incident. Imagine this, he won an award for best single news blog post yet he blogs like a run-off-the-mill tabloid reporter. He hates mainstream media on their way of delivering reports. He said that reports from media lacked context. Quoting an interview from Sun.Star General Santos,
Pierre Tito Galla, a Baguio City-based blogger who was invited for an outside pundit's view of Mindanao, lamented that main stream media sometimes neglect to give the proper context to their reportage.

"For instance, the bombings that occurred in the past are not terrorism related but motivated by extortion. This must be clarified in the reporting," he said.

"As bloggers, we must give the proper context and there could be no limit to space since we could write all we want and post them in our sites," he added, citing the lack of time or space constraints in the mainstream media that result to good stories ending in the trash cans or in the inside pages.

Ironic isn't it? He laments on mainstream media's lack of context to properly deliver the news yet he himself is guilty of doing more. Fabricating stories and lies just to sensationalize himself without thinking how this will damage reputations of websites like our GameOPS. Maybe just to be praised by his friends who are angry with another group who were criticizing the awards? I dunno.

I also find it odd to that he referred to Rocky as having a work not up to scratch to what the judges wanted when in fact Rocky was talking about my entry and not GameOPS. He should address me and not Rocky.

If you have problems with people Mr. Galla, tell them directly. Don't pick on guys who you thought won't answer back(Ex. Rocky). Are you afraid of getting n00b roasted? I won't hesitate to wear my anti-n00b super hero suit again if it means roasting you. I'll gladdddly wear it again. And please, don't cry that me and my friends at GameOPS are ganging up on you. We are only protecting the name of GameOPS we've protected and nurtured for the past 10 years.

During this whole incident, I received a lot of private Twits, Plurks and emails from blogging buddies and friends. Some of these people already met and interacted with Jester in person. I have to admit, their messages gave me smiles. I won't mention their names because I respect them but I will post what they've said so I could share them to everyone. :)
  • thank got it's not only me who finds him a bit annoying.
  • you actually understood everything he wrote? because I don't.
  • lol. His head is too full of self importance. I'm suprised it's so small in pics.
  • Just let it be man,it's like arguing with a moron, you just end up going to his level.
  • Ignore jester, I know I do.
  • Sana "UPDATE: The issue has been cleared and all's well" sana man lang nilagay nya.
  • Takteng Jester yan, kung kausap mo kala mo alam ang lahat.
  • He's one of the reasons why I no longer go to blog events. He's everywhere.
  • Ugh, honestly, that Jester guy is so bleh. His blog gives the impression that he's a whiny little bitch and he's the same offline. Plus, he's oogleh.
  • just ignore him man. your friend karlo already said everything.
  • nakakatawa siya. baka gusto lang magpasikat sa kabarkada
  • cursing someones mother (who he doesn't even know) just to get attention is the work of an attention whore
  • Tim Cumper version 2? LULZ!
  • ive read his blogs he gives me headache
  • fugly blog from a fugly person. believe me.
  • he thinks he's high and mighty with his post but fact of the matter is only meriam webster can understand him
  • f****g i***t
  • tangina ang panget naman niyan. offensively panget
  • jester is a joker and he sucks. srsly.
Unlike Pierre Tito Galla, I don't lie. Unlike Tim Cumper, I don't create imaginary friends and readers. These are messages from actual people. People who aren't related to GameOPS and people who I haven't even met. It's just nice to know that me and my friends from GameOPS are not alone :~)

Again, to those guys coming from The Jester-In-Exile's blog and have read a post about GameOPS, Rocky and Andrew, we didn't do anything wrong. THOSE WRITTEN ON THE JESTER IN EXILE's BLOG ABOUT US ARE LIES. We won't do anything just to malign the people and groups just because we're supposedly bitter over something. I know how difficult it is to organize an event like the Philippine Blog Awards 2008 and I bow to the guys who made this possible. They have my respect.

Rocky said it best, we only wanted the truth nothing more. Happy New Year and I hope liars burn in hell. If not, I'll burn them personally.

By the way, bombing IS terrorism. LOL.

Another by the way, I won't stop hunting you down unless you correct everything you've said and say sorry.
"He tasks me. He tasks me and I shall have him. I'll chase him 'round the moons of Nibia and 'round the Antares maelstrom and 'round perdition's flame before I give him up! Prepare to alter course." - Khan Noonien Singh

Welcoming My Friends to the Blogging World
Tuesday, December 30, 2008

Captain's Log Stardate -315994.65

Guys, I'd like you to meet my friends who've just created their personal blogs ---Glen, Mark and Pepper.

Glen, Mark and I have known each other since pre-school and went to the same school until high school, heck we even went to the same university (University of Santo Tomas). Pepper's also one of our childhood friends but she rather came a little late. Pepper and I have been friends since 3rd grade.

A little trivia: Mark's the one who conceptualized the igad character of GameOPS while Glen was the one who drew the first igad sketch. That makes both of them the "lolo" of GameOPS.. hahaha! :P

Mark maintains 2 blogs. His personal blog is called Medyo Gwapo and is located at http://www.markbravo.net while his tech blog is called The Geekothon and is located at http://www.geekothon.com.

Glen's personal blog is called Reality Bytes and is located at http://www.glenramos.com. To all NBA PC gamers, you may recognize Glen as he is one of the top patchers/modders of NBA Live and NBA 2K series.

Pepper's blog is much like Lalaine's. She blogs about weird and interesting stuffs. She also used to keep all the igad comics in an album until I lost it.... *hides* You can view her blog at http://www.peppersoriano.com :)

Assimilating them to the world of blogging is actually itot54joni's fault. He introduced me to what they call "ka pepe" which I then told my friends and all of them got interested. So to all of you, you may one day see us asking for links. Be generous ok? :~)

By the way, they've already been stalked by Tim Cumper. LOL!

DAR Chief and Mayor of Masiu City Maul Helpless Dad and 14 yr old Son
Saturday, December 27, 2008

Captain's Log Stardate -315988.26

Blogger Bambee Dela Paz has blogged about her unfortunate experience the day after Christmas with one of the top officials of the Philippines.

The world has gone crazy

So, I just had the worst day of my life.

At around 1:30 PM today (Dec 26), at Valley Golf and Country Club, Antipolo City, Mayor Nasser Pangandaman, Jr., Mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur, his father, Secretary Nasser Pangandaman of the Department of Agrarian Reform, and company, beat my defenseless 56-year-old dad and my 14-year-old brother to a pulp because of some stupid misunderstanding on the golf course.

Someone breaks up the fight. I thought it was all over. The mayor shouts to his caddy: "Hindi nila kami kilala! Sabihin mo nga sa kanila kung sino ako!" And believe me, I had no idea who this person was. But now I know. He's the person who, with 4 other men, beat up my 56-year-old father and my 14-year-old brother. He's the person who sacks a pleading 14-year-old kid in the face. He's a person who, I am sure, is gonna rot in hell.

The world has gone crazy. Two politicians beat up a defenseless 56-year-old father and his 14-year-old son. At a golf course. I swear to God, I thought golfers were decent people. You would think politicians were decent people. I guess not. I guess they gang up on 56-year-old men and beat up pleading 14-year-old kids.

Please pray for my dad, my brother and for my whole family. Please pray that we get JUSTICE. Oh God, please, give these people what they deserve.

I'm with you Bambee... I hope they all rot in hell. Imagine, punching a defenseless 14 year old kid on the face.

UPDATE (12/27/2008) Filipino Twilight Remake Not True
Wednesday, December 24, 2008

Captain's Log Stardate -315978.39

Top celebrity blogger Perez Hilton said that ABS-CBN will start filming the Filipino version of Twilight called Takipsilim. According to Perez Hilton, Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao will be portraying Edward and Isabella respectively and will be directed by Cathy Garcia Molina.

Fortunately for many, the poster above is actually made by a fan and there are really no plans for a Filipino Twilight remake.

The one who made the poster is definitely better than the guys who made this sh!t. Yes? Yes.

UPDATE 12/24/2008: ABS-CBN News has published a story about the Twilight remake and it seems Yehey and Perez Hilton were correct about the remake.

ABS-CBN bags rights for local 'Twilight' remake
abs-cbnNEWS.com | 12/24/2008 9:50 AM

Filipino fans of Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" series will soon have another reason to celebrate after broadcasting giant ABS-CBN bagged the exclusive rights to make a local television series based on the vampire novels.

Initial reports said ABS-CBN paid $1 million with co-producer Ignite Media for the rights to the Twilight series.

The new series, tentatively titled "Takipsilim", will reunite the onscreen tandem of Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao.

Taping for the series will start February of next year. Some parts of the series will be shot abroad and the other locations include Tagaytay, Bukidnon and Baguio. The series will be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

as of 12/24/2008 4:38 PM

UPDATE 12/27/2008: Flowell officially declared the news of the Filipino Twilight remake a hoax!

Last December 23, nilabas ni Edgar Cruz ang article about sa remake ng ABS-CBN ng movie na Twilight, and the same time Perez Hilton releases his version of the clamor where everyone were furious about the idea. This morning i received an email from Tito Ed Cruz of Yehey.com regarding the updates on the alleged remake/adaptation of Twilight, with the local title Takipsilip where Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao will be the main cast.

Here is Tito Ed's email as posted on the Entertainment Section of Yehey.com

“Di ko alam ako pala magdi-direct ng ‘Twilight,’” director Cathy Garcia Molina curtly replied when Buzzbox asked her if she is opting for a localized version of the blockbuster vampire novel. The buzz is that ABS-CBN had acquired the rights to the novel for US$1 million and that Cathy has been selected to direct it with Rayver Cruz as Edward Cullen and Shaina Magdayao as Isabella Swan.

Cathy informed Buzzbox her schedule is heavy as she has to finish principal photography and post-production of the John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo starrer “A Very Special Love 2,” Star Cinema’s Valentine offering, before she could work on a new project.

This led Buzzbox to inquire from the talent managers of the actors in the unofficial cast if they have been casted for specific roles. Anjie Ureta, manager of Chin Chin Gutierrez who will do the role of Esme Cullen replied, “As of today we have not received information or inquiry regarding ‘Twilight’ remake for Dos.” Becky Aguila, the manager of Joross Gamboa as Jasper Hale and Empress Schuck as Angela Weber, texted, “Di ko alam. Wala pang sinasabi.” Veronique del Rosario, the manager of Nikki Bacolod as Victoria answered, “Wala pang offer.”

Could this don’t-know approach be a ruse? I got this idea when Carlo Orosa, the manager of Karylle as Rosalie Hale, originally answered “Wala pang official.” When asked for a clarification, replied, “Can’t be revealed yet.” Could it be the whole project is still a top secret and people in the know were asked not to talk about it. This may be similar to the information embargo ordered by ABS-CBN top management for “I Love Betty La Fea” as to the actor who would play the role of Armando. This turned to be John Lloyd Cruz which Buzzbox correctly second-guessed.

There are strong reactions from ‘Twilight” cult fans that a petition for ABS-CBN not to proceed with the project is on-going. The petition centers two issues: ABS-CBN’s lack of ability to do justice to the novel and Rayver not being fit to do the Edward Allen part. Before they do this, they have to find out first if the buzz is for real or a hoax?

Save the effort and hate words, guys! Buzzbox clarified with ABS-CBN Corporate Communication Head Bong Osorio and after checking with ABS-CBN Television Head Cory Vidanes categorically stated: “There is no plan for ABS-CBN to remake ‘Twilight.’”

The original article on abs-cbnNEWS.com has already been deleted and the guy who posted that probably got slapped real hard. Remember, they screwed up their official news website's URL on national TV. This is definitely a good addition to the list of ABS-CBN's boo boo online.

Red Mobile Video Call First Impressions
Tuesday, December 23, 2008

Captain's Log Stardate -315975.55

So I've finally decided to open my Red Mobile SIM that CURE sent as a replacement for my dead umobile SIM. Since I'm using a 3G handset and rates of voice and video calls are the same, the logical thing to do was to try out their video calls with my dad and Lalaine.

Video and audio quality is POOR. Video is slow and reminds you the early days of watching videos on Real Player over a dial up connection. Video pixelates a lot even though I'm steady as a rock. The only thing missing is the word "buffering" at the bottom of the screen and your nostalgic trip back to Real Player is complete.

There's also this problem that either the person I'm talking to can't see me or my video does not move at all. Happens on my side as well. Again, reminds you the early days of Real Player. My Red Mobile SIM also cannot receive calls from Globe, same problem I've encountered on umobile.

Test units we've used were a Nokia 6680, Nokia 6630, and two Nokia N70s. All having the same results. So, sulit ba ang Red Mobile? I'll let you know in the coming days. In the meantime, I'll stick with my Sun Cellular for unlimited calls and text. :)

ABS-CBN Gives Wrong Internet Address

Captain's Log Stardate -315967.27

If there's one constant with ABS-CBN, its their stupidity doing business online. Let me list some of them.

First, they removed my Aunt's Rated-K video clip on Youtube. Second, they claimed copyright on our videos which they actually linked, mentioned and quoted on their news website. Third, they forgot to renew their domain. Fourth, Bought some very expensive shares from Multiply. Fifth? Click the image above.

See anything unusual? Instead of www.abs-cbnnews.com, they are telling their viewers to go to www.abscbnnews.com. The www.abscbnnews.com points to an internet squatter and not to abs-cbnNEWS.com. I've noticed this a few days ago and it seems that the production guys of TV Patrol don't even know the URL of their website.

The owner of this domain will certainly have a "Merry" Christmas and a "Happy" New Year with all the free publicity he's getting. Nice job ABS-CBN. Nice job.

Rest in Peace Kate
Thursday, December 18, 2008

Captain's Log Stardate -315963.67

One day, Glen and I were happy talking about his series of unfortunate experiences with an OJT nurse at some hospital. He donated blood for his sick cousin, Kate. We were both laughing and at the same time concerned that her cousin might not survive. Next day, I receive an SMS informing me that Kate is gone.

I haven't seen Kate until Glen posted her picture on his blog. I was surprised to see that Kate was the same girl I saw on TV several days ago. She was one of the kids who received gifts and entertainment from ABS-CBN last Thursday. If my memory serves me right, I saw her singing with Jericho Rosales and being interviewed on TV. The reporter mentioned that she has a chronic renal failure and might not survive that long.

I remembered my grandma saying, "Kawawa naman yan, masyado pa syang bata para magkasakit ng ganyan". From what I've seen on TV, Kate was really happy while singing with her favorite stars. Tomorrow's the last day of her wake at Funeraria Central in Navotas. I hope that Jericho Rosales finds time to visit her again, one last time.

Kate died a day before her 19th birthday. Read more about Kate on Glen's blog.

Star Trek Coming to IMAX
Tuesday, December 16, 2008

Captain's Log Supplemental Stardate -315957.58

LOS ANGELES, CA, December 12, 2008 Paramount Pictures and IMAX Corporation today announced that Star Trek, directed by J.J. Abrams (Mission: Impossible III, “Lost” and “Alias), will be simultaneously released to both IMAX and conventional theatres worldwide on May 8, 2009. Star Trek, which chronicles the early days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members, will be digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology. Paramount Pictures will be the exclusive distributor of the film to IMAX theatres worldwide.

Star Trek is one of the worlds most successful science fiction entertainment series and media franchises. Created by Gene Roddenberry, the Star Trek phenomenon has lead to six television series, ten feature films, dozens of computer and video games, hundreds of novels and fan stories, as well as a themed attraction in Las Vegas. Star Trek has also inspired a following of millions of Trekkies of all ages that span across the globe.

Were excited to share the enhanced IMAX version of this film with the millions of dedicated fans who have been anticipating this release since production began, said Rob Moore, Vice Chairman, Paramount Pictures. The IMAX Experience adds that extra level of excitement to an already action-packed film, giving moviegoers a premium event at the multiplex.

Added J.J. Abrams, Im thrilled that audiences will be able to experience this new, epic world of Star Trek with an incredible cast and mind-blowing visual effects on what is, obviously, the most remarkable film format in the world.

Star Trek combines top Hollywood story-telling talent with space exploration, and each is very conducive to The IMAX Experience, said IMAX Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs Richard L. Gelfond and Bradley J. Wechsler. Expanding our relationship with Paramount Pictures to include this film strengthens our 2009 slate, and with the continuing rollout of digital IMAX theatre systems, we will be able to offer the fan-base more locations to experience the epic first journey of the USS Enterprise in the most immersive way.

Both Star Trek and IMAX have taken audiences to far away places they would normally not be able to go, and in this case, its space the final frontier, added Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment. J.J. Abrams has created a powerful movie that has fans worldwide feverishly anticipating its release. We are thrilled to partner with Paramount Pictures to bring J.J.S exciting vision of this incredible space adventure to IMAX screens.

From director J.J. Abrams and screenwriters Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci (“Transformers,” “MI: III”) comes a new vision of the greatest space adventure of all time, “Star Trek,” featuring a young, new crew venturing boldly where no man has gone before. Star Trek explores the early Starfleet careers of future Enterprise officers Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), Scotty (Simon Pegg), Amanda Grayson (Winona Ryder), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), McCoy (Karl Urban), Sulu (John Cho), and Chekhov (Anton Yelchin). A Romulan, Nero (Eric Bana), and a much older Spock (Leonard Nimoy) are influences, as well as Captain Pike (Bruce Greenwood), the first captain of the USS Enterprise.

This is the official press release from Paramount Pictures and being republished here as part of the Star Trek Webmaster Program.

Cheap Ways to Call and Text Abroad Via Your Mobile

Captain's Log Stardate -315956.55

My cousin's recent Globe Telecom roaming bill reached P11,147.80. You read it right, ELEVEN THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED FORTY SEVEN AND EIGHTY CENTAVOS! Almost the same price of the much hyped LG Cookie phone.

Her G-Plan is only G-Text 500 with a monthly credit limit of P5,000. Instead of bearing the costs of international calls and texts by calling my cousin's Verizon mobile, her moron and leech boyfriend kept on calling her roaming Globe SIM despite the fact that my cousin will be charged P60+ per minute for all incoming international calls. Why waste $0.40 per minute with Verizon when you can call her for only P6.50 per minute or P0.10 per second? Wise guy huh?

I also don't know why Globe allowed this. Why impose a credit limit of P5,000 when you cannot implement it? The P11,147.80 accumulated for days and there's no way their system couldn't have detected it even their claim of some delay. Of course they had a lot of alibis to my Aunt when I accompanied her last October. My aunt is one of the first 40 subscribers of Globe, one consolation they would have atleast gave her was to refund half of that P11K bill.

My cousin's line has been terminated and both my uncle and aunt are thinking of transferring to Smart. Anyway, to prevent this from happening again, I have compiled some tips to help them and my readers to save on international calls and texts.

As far as I know, TextWise is the first prepaid card that offered cheap international SMS and can be used by either postpaid or prepaid subscribers. The TextWise card comes only in P100 denomination and lets you send up to 20 international SMS or P5 per SMS plus P1 local text rate. That's about 75% savings from the current rates of Smart and Globe.

It works by sending your SMS to a predefined local gateway number and this gateway will then forward your message to the recipient. Not as secured as you think, but the 75% savings is worth it.

TextWise is from Philippine Wireless Inc., the same guys who operated PocketBell in the 1990s.

To those who don't know what Chikka is, better grab a rock and knock your head. Chikka is the first and only messaging client for computers that allows everyone to send free SMS to anyone in the Philippines. Today, they have expanded the countries you can send free SMS to 10. Countries beside the Philippines include Hong Kong, Guam, Spain, United Kingdom, Saipan, India, Indonesia and the United States.

Unfortunately for many, the only way they know to send free SMS is while in front of a computer. But I'll let you know a little secret. You can actually send an SMS to 9 other countries for P2.50 (P2.00 for Sun Cellular). How you ask?

First, register your mobile number at Chikka's new website. Now, add your friend or relative's mobile number to your Chikka Buddy list. You can read more on how to Add your buddies at the Chikka's Beginners Guide.

Once added, you can now send free SMS to them using your computer or P2.50 per message via your mobile phone. To send a message via mobile, you need to know the Chikka access number of your operator and add it to the mobile number you're texting.

Example, you're texting someone from the United States and the mobile number is +12131234567. The access number should be added infront of the number, ex. (ACCESS NUMBER)12131234567. Here's the list of access codes of the different local mobile providers.

Globe Handyphone / Touch Mobile - 2371
  • 2371+(country code)+(area code)+(mobile number)
  • ex. 237112131234567

Smart Buddy / Talk and Text - 277
  • 277+(country code)+(area code)+(mobile number)
  • ex. 27712131234567

Sun Cellular - 2009
  • 2009+(country code)+(area code)+(mobile number)
  • ex. 200912131234567

So for example, you're using Globe and and you'll be texting your brother in the USA with a mobile number of +12131234567, the correct Chikka format should be 237112131234567.

Prepaid subscribers of Globe Handyphone, Touch Mobile, Smart, and Talk & Text will be charged P2.50 while Sun Cellular subscribers will be charged P2.00 per 160 characters of SMS.

But always remember, this will only work on the 9 countries listed above. Sending an SMS via Chikka will give you about 87.5% savings over regular rates.

Chikka also offers Chikka Text Plus, a paid service that allows you to text virtually any country for US$0.10 per message. I haven't tried it yet though. You may check out Chikka Text Plus here.

Globe and Touch Mobile subscribers can send international SMS to SingTel users in Singapore for only P1.00 per SMS. As far as I know, this is the only international text offer from Globe.

Smart Communications currently has a special text package for all its Smart Buddy subscribers that lets them send SMS to the USA and UK for as low as P0.70 per SMS. All Smart Buddy subscribers, send ITEXT [package type]{space}[your number] to 4090. Following packages are as follows:
  • Package A - P20 Good for 1 day with 20 texts or P1.00/text
  • Package B - P55 Good for 3 days with 60 texts or P0.90/text
  • Package C - P90 Good for 5 days with 110 texts or P0.80/text
  • Package D - P125 Good for 7 days with 170 texts or P0.70/text

Each call can be made anytime of the day for only P7.50 per minute. To call, just dial Dial 12801 (country code) (area code) (phone no.) (Ex. 12801xxxxxxxxxx)

Another variation of the P7.50 per minute IDD call is also available to USA and Canada. Calls must be made from 10:00pm - 5:59am Manila time. To call, just dial Dial 12801 (country code) (area code) (phone no.) (Ex. 12808xxxxxxxxxx)

This is a permanent service to all Sun Cellular subscribers, whether postpaid or prepaid. Sun IDD Top 10 offers US$ 0.10 per minute IDD rate for every call made only to the US Mainland, China, Hong Kong, Canada, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, Guam, and Macau. IDD calls made to Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands are not included though.
  • For Postpaid, enroll to IDD Top 10 by calling Hotline 200 or visiting any Sun Shop.
  • For Prepaid, load IDD Top 10 E_PIN credits by purchasing a call card, accessing The Mall on a Sun mobile phone, or via electronic loading through Sun Xpress Load

The new Sun Cellular Call and Text International SIM is capable of sending P1.00 SMS to 20 countries without signing up for a promo. The 20 countries in which you could send Php 1.00 per international text includes USA, Canada, Japan, Malaysia, UAE, Singapore, Bahamas, Brunei, Cayman Island, Cyprus, Guam, Hawaii, HK, Jamaica, Macau, Oman, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Saipan, and Turkey.

Also included in the new Call and Text International SIM card is a free 5 min call every month for 6 months to Sun’s Top 10 IDD destinations and 5 free international texts. You will get the free credits as long as you load at least P50 every month.

You also don't have to purchase Sun IDD Top 10 credits as the rate is permanently included with the new Sun International Call and Text SIM Card. Enjoy $0.10 per minute calls to 10 countries that include the US Mainland, China, Hong Kong, Canada, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, Guam, and Macau.

IDD calls to Saudi Arabia, UAE, Japan, Australia, India and 15 other countries are also very affordable at only $0.20 per minute. This special rate is initially available for Sun Call & Text International SIM subscribers. Sun's regular IDD rate to call over 100 countries is $0.30 per minute.

VOIP (Fring + Skype)

If you happen to have a phone that is powered by Symbian or Windows, you can download and install fring. Fring enables you use your phone's data connectivity to make Skype calls.

Data rates of Smart, Globe and Sun are currently priced at P10 per 30 minutes or about P0.33/minute. Calls from a Skype account to a United States number is priced at US$0.02 per minute. That's about P1.29 per minute using the fring + Skype combo on your mobile network. All you need is a PayPal account to purchase Skype credits. To know more about Skype and it's call rates, visit their official website.

I'll show you more ways to save next time like Magic Jack, IM, Email to SMS, etc. But until then, you better start calling and texting your love ones abroad. It's only 9 days till Christmas :)

Happy Holidays guys :)

Tracy Isabel Borres... Sigh sigh.
Thursday, December 11, 2008

Captain's Log Stardate -315945.2

I did a little catching up earlier about the newest internet sensation, Tracy Isabel Borres. Based from the forwarded emails I received and from what I've read from Mike and Reyna Elena's blog, Tracy wrote some nasty comments about our Aeta brothers on her Facebook account. I won't republish her comments here as I find it unfit for republication, and I am offended by her comments as well. You may read it at Reyna Elena's blog.

Tracy was part of a community work of sorts that involves living with an "adopted" Aeta family for 3 days. Tracy didn't like the experience that she blogged about it at her Facebook account... in detail. One of her "friends" didn't like what she wrote so this "friend" screencapped her post and circulated it via email.

I know how difficult it is to adjust to other cultures and live with them for a few days. But these experiences, or for this instance an opinion of an experience, should be kept within yourself or with your close friends only. And besides, she wouldn't experience these if she didn't volunteer herself in the community work anyway.

Unfortunately for Tracy, one of her so called friends leaked the supposedly private Facebook post to everyone. We all know how things would get out of hand once the floodgates of the internet have been opened ---no holds barred.

Tracy, word of advice... There are things you should rather keep to your self. Example, I always wanted to tell this moron how I wanted to bitchslap him whenever he whines on TV but I don't. Hmmm wait.. guess I just did it. Hahahaha! And there's this guy who damaged the reputation of GameOPS we've protected all these years due to his irresponsible post. I soooo wanted to flame him since last week, but I don't. Well, not yet.

Mike has contacted Tracy and has already posted her statement,

Yes I am fully aware of the gravity and extent of what is happening right now, but thank you still. =)

Someone stole it from my CONTACTS only account. Sigh sigh. Thing is i know how rude and offensive it sounded but that was because I was expecting it to be read by my friends only who understood a kind of dark quirky humor of mine that really would make other people mad. It was a post meant to be comical for my friends to laugh at… (exaggerated rudeness and ditzy-ness, although still not with some truth to it of course, i am not excusing my insensitive usage of words but hey! its funny WITH/FOR my friends!) then of course it leaked. Sigh sigh.

I am just waiting for this to blow over (as typical ‘internet sensations’ usually do), because seriously. People, focus on real issues not on some spoiled sheltered girl. Haha.

if anything, i would rather you forward my reply to the email. =)

i mean really. there are so many ppl out there who are just so ready and willing to jump at every and any opportunity to add insult to injury bec it will be inconsequential to them anyway without knowing the premises or without any sense of discernment whatsoever. i mean betrayal for leaking my entry by someone i knew was bad enough right? so now its like i cracked a yo momma joke and everyone thinks i want to kill their momma! hahaha oh sigh sigh.

again, thank you for your concern. =)

Sigh sigh indeed.

A Thesaurus Without Logic

Captain's Log Stardate -315937.11

Have you ever experienced a bad day? I mean, a really bad day especially on your birthday. Well I just had my share. I received a very disturbing email 2 weeks ago from a long time reader condemning our videogame website, GameOPS. It has something to do with an issue involving me, Rocky, Siopao, Karlo, Mark and GameOPS. But, that issue was dead. DEAD.

It was unfortunate that the one who emailed me read something on a blog that has twisted the facts and made it appear GameOPS has been accusing someone or some group of fraud. I emailed the reader and cleared things up. He promptly replied and saying, "oh... sorry.". But whatever, it ruined my day. My birthday of all days.

I was tempted to flame the owner of the blog where GameOPS was being accused but I didn't. I just said to myself that if ever someone emails me again, I'll just inform them with facts. For the next several days, I received 4 more emails from our readers. Same as the first one, telling us that we were wrong and that they have read everything on this guy's blog.

Of course, my original plan is no longer the logical course of action. Something has to be done. Either I post an official statement on GameOPS explaining our side or contact the owner of the blog who's caused all this damage to our name. Though against my will, I chose the latter.

I emailed him (let's refer to him as 'the one who shall not be named') 6 days later after the first email I received. I humbly requested that he either fix, edit or delete his post about us. Of course I have anticipated the tone of his response. Being famous for his arrogant and self righteous attitude, it didn't surprise me that he insulted me on his latest blog post. First he insulted me in a way since I am one of the founders of GameOPS, then he insulted me again, this time it's direct.

I 'was given a lecture' on email writing 101. Referring to me as a 'young man' and my email having a hostile tone and lacked the 4 points he raised on positive email persuasion. Come to think of it, my email was a polite way of a demand. Why? Because he's the f*cking one who accused us of something we didn't do in the first place.

Don't you find it weird that I am the one 'requesting' something from someone who accused us of something which isn't true? Oh well... that's life.

I don't care if it was posted in his own space, but the fact remains that this personal space of his is public and can be read by anyone. Anyone can be misled and misinformed that GameOPS had something to do with his false accusations. I may not have a deep vocabulary like him but my logic is intact.

Rocky, Glen, Mark and I have protected the name igad and GameOPS through the years. Even months before the first Filipino blogger started to blog and probably years even before 'the one who shall not be named' learned to send an email. Yeah we know we're old.

Oh about me being criticized by all because of bringing a dead issue back... naaaah! I doubt it. I am only trying to protect our name. Our hard work through the years. Our image. Our GameOPS. That's it.

I'm not expecting him to alter his post in the first place anyway. I'm still hoping though. But as Captain Kathryn Janeway puts it, "When diplomacy fails, there is only one alternative: Violence."

Hard Gay - Young Man

UPDATE (12/13/2008 13:56): It is unfortunate that this 'the one who shall not be named' has posted a link from his Plurk to this post. Well, have I exposed who he is above? No. Only my friends and other people involved in the issue know who he is. Even my regular readers don't have a clue on his identity.

Ahhh... logic. Why are you so elusive. Read the discussion here.

Oh You Didn't Know?! 10 Facts About Me
Thursday, December 04, 2008

Captain's Log Stardate -315926.11

Lalaine and Ka Edong both tagged to share my 10 facts. So here goes... are you ready?

  1. Same as Glen, I'm of Filipino-Chinese-Spanish descent but I don't look like one.
  2. I eat like a bear but still cannot gain weight. Weight gain has been my problem since I was a kid.
  3. I don't drink and smoke.
  4. I'm allergic to sea foods, especially crabs and prawns. A single drop of their essence could mean life and death.
  5. I have an eidetic memory. I can recall almost every detail of a certain event, even the placings of images or notes on pages of books I read.
  6. I'm a self confessed geek. I drool over gadgets and technology.
  7. I love Star Trek. I have watched all 172 episodes of Star Trek: Voyager and I have memorized all of them. I'm currently watching the 32nd episode of Enterprise. I am close in completing my collection of TV series and movies of the Trek franchise. I consider Star Trek: First Contact as the best Trek film ever.
  8. I love dogs.
  9. My eyelashes are long and can hold 2 toothpicks at the same time.
  10. I don't need an instruction manual on how to operate things. I can make things work in a matter of minutes.

Now I'm tagging Rocky, Mark, Cezar, Karlo, Siopao Master, Ade, Helga, Rester, and Pepper.

My first Sony experience is with my Sony Betacam BMC-100
Wednesday, December 03, 2008

Captain's Log Stardate -315922.55

It was the late 1980s. Television sets with knobs as channel switchers, Betamax rentals, family computers and Ataris, cartoons, etc. The 1980s is definitely the golden age of almost everything we know now.

I recently realized that most of the "first experience" I had with technology when I was a kid all came from Sony. Whether it's a Walkman cassette or CD, a colored television, a Betamax player, a Laser Disc player, a transistor radio, cassette tapes, and even floppy discs. But above all these firsts, our Sony Betamovie Betacam BCM-100 is my real first hand experience with Sony.

It's quite ironic because we had this video recorder first before actually buying a betamax player to play its videos. I was six when my folks bought this camera. They practically brought this monster whenever there's an event in school, reunions, and even during family bonding every Sunday mornings at the CCP/PICC complex. Size and weight did not matter. As long as they can capture everything on film, that's what's important.

*Person holding the cam is my dad :~)

The most memorable event this camera gave was during my 7th birthday. As far as I could remember, that was the last party I had and boy I had fun. There were clowns, magicians, my friends (Glen was there too), and most importantly, lots of gifts. All these were captured on video by our Sony Betacam. The Betamax tape is still here and I wanted to upload the video on Youtube but unfortunately, all three of our Betamax players are non functional. Maybe Sony Philippines can fix them for free? :~)

My family's love for videos and pictures has obviously an effect on me when I was growing up. My photoblog can speak for itself. Videos? Well, I directed 3 movies during high school and college and my short film entry to the controversial Philippine Blog Awards 2008. The last of my college-directed movie was recorded in early 2000 using our Betacam. Yes, the thing still works as of today :~)

The Betacam comes with an elaborate instruction manual for the do's and don'ts in video/picture taking. I guess I owe Sony my "talent" even without proper training. Talk about having an impact with my life :P

The Sony Betamovie Betacam BCM-100 was first released in 1983 and also the first Beta Movie video camera incorporating an internal Beta system deck. It definitely gave significance in my life just like the Sony's World's First Smallest, Lightest and Slimmest Full HD Camcorder: TG1 Handycam, which can help me capture every moment possible on video... anywhere. My dad would definitely love this :)
