After attending the press launch of Globe's Pixlink yesterday at the Manila Contemporary Gallery, Lalaine, Rocky, Glen and I went to SM North EDSA to watch The Legend of Chun-Li. The poster above should have been a dead giveaway that the movie will suck but we decided to watch it anyway.
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is the second movie based on Capcom's popular fighting game, Street Fighter. The movie stars Smallville's Kristin Kreuk as Chun-Li, Neal McDonough as M. Bison, Kingpin Michael Clarke Duncan as Balrog, and Lui Kang Robin Shou as Chun-Li's master Gen.
The movie opened in the Philippines 2 days before (3 days actually since our time is 1 day advance) the official showing date in the USA. Chun-Li is a pianist who was trained by her father in wushu, unlike the original Street Fighter with Van Damme wherein Chun-Li is a reporter.
We will see how Chun-Li learned martial arts from his father and Lui Kang Gen. The problem with this movie is that the fight scenes are boring and short. Take for example the much awaited face-off between Chun-Li and Vega. I think the fight lasted for only 2 or 3 minutes! No signature moves for Vega or even a second look at Chun-Li's short-lived Spinning Bird Kick. Yes, she did it for about 2 seconds then we get interrupted with her spinning bird necklace.
Vega was like an ugly rag doll, literally. And I thought Vega was handsome. Sheesh! At least Chun-Li was right when she said that Vega should keep his mask.
Her fight scene with these group of thugs is more exciting than her fight with Vega and M. Bison combined. Seriously. No Kidding.
The special effects are bad. I rather choose Ryu's non visible hadouken from the first movie than Chun-Li's Kikouken in this movie. It looked like a ghost from Ghostbusters when she released it to Bison.
The movie is a big disappointment for Street Fighter and Chun-Li fans like me. They should have at least developed the story better and included more fight scenes with Chun-Li.
There's no mention of Guile or any other characters besides Ryu "something". Charlie uses guns and no sonic booms or flash kicks, well... Chun-Li did one flash kick. Wierd. Vega should be handsome, but he isn't in the movie (no offense Taboo). Balrog uses rocket launchers. Bison is your typical generic evil white guy who doesn't even reveal a single "psycho" energy in the movie and Chun-Li didn't wear her signature costume.
Well, it's nice to know Lui Kang Robin Shou can still kick butts and Kristin Kreuk looks good on a pseudo Chun-Li costume and fights very well. But still, don't watch this movie. You'll be wasting your money as just as we wasted ours.
Just play the game Street Fighter 4 on arcades or buy the game for your PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. Or you could always spend your money to buy a DVD of Jean-Claude Van Damme's Street Fighter. His version of Street Fighter is better than The Legend of Chun-Li. TRUST ME.

I wonder, should we watch the upcoming Dragon Ball movie or not since it will suck like this one? I believe it's the latter. At least we have Kristin Kreuk to ogle on here.

Just saw an ABS-CBN van earlier at a Lotto outlet in Muñoz Market. The news crew was doing a report on one of the biggest Philippine Lotto Jackpot. The Super Lotto 6/49 jackpot is expected to reach or surpass P270 million tonight. So, you guys still have an hour to place your bets. :~)
One of the things that irritate me most is when I receive forwarded and mass emails wherein my email address is displayed on the TO: field. It exposes everyone's privacy. MERALCO and txtJock were both guilty with this act but have already corrected their mistakes after I brought it to their attention.
But apparently, there are still lots of clueless individuals infront of computers who keep on sending mass emails like this. Take for example this guy:

I may have considered his request and posted everything for free on my blog since a lot of people nowadays are jobless. But I won't. Why? Check out the way he sent the email:
I can see the email addresses of Cai, Annalyn, Bob, Mark, Glen, Rocky, Karlo, Andrew, Lalaine and about 40 other people on the TO field. It only means that this guy just exposed our privacy to everyone. Imagine this scenario:I am a spammer and I need the contact details or emails of the top Pinoy bloggers, I now have about 40 email addresses, thanks to this bozo from Sykes.
He mentioned about reading our "tech" blogs and he found it cool and interesting. REALLY NOW? Reading 40+ blogs huh? LIAR. The blog of my friend Glen isn't even related to tech and his email is so private even Tim Cumper will not find it. And I doubt that it's coincidence that he had read all our blogs the way he pasted our emails in order. He got the list from someone else.
So, where the hell did he got our contact details? Well that was easy to trace since I submit my info to a very few people. And the emails of my friends who've I've just introduced to blogging gave away the culprit. I was the one submitting their infos on select events. And I've only submitted them ONCE!
The person I gave our info to promised that ALL infos WILL NOT BE SHARED to anyone.

Now, how about a short lecture on BCC or Blind Carbon Copy. BCC provides privacy to your email recipients. If you are sending email on behalf of a business or organization, it may be especially important to keep lists of clients, members, or associates confidential. Using the TO: or CC: fields exposes the addresses of all your recipients
Forwarded email messages frequently contain long lists of email addresses that were CC'd by previous senders. These addresses are highly likely to be active and valid, so they are very valuable to spammers. Many email-borne viruses harvest email addresses contained in messages you've already received (not just the To: and From: fields, but from the body, too), so those long lists in forwarded messages pose a risk to all the accounts they point to if you get infected.
Just follow these instructions to send via BCC:
In most email clients, the BCC field is very apparent and obvious. While in a new message in AOL's web mail, click BCC. In Gmail and Yahoo Mail!, click add BCC. In Hotmail, click Show Cc & Bcc.
In Outlook and Outlook express, it's not so obvious but turning it on is a one-time event.
To activate the BCC field in Outlook Express, create a new message and choose View, All Headers.
To activate the BCC field in MS-Outlook, create a new message and choose View, BCC.
Lotus Notes - the BCC field is right there. Nothing to "turn on", no hoops to jump through, just use it!
So guys, think twice before submitting your emails to other people. Okay?
